Life is like a Box of Chocolates you never know what you're gonna get.Well I don't know if this is going to be one of those blogs just for me or if its going to make its way into the world.. But this is my own chocolate box of life- full of surprises. I never know what I'm gonna get! Recently one of my friends said I should blog and record everything new, first time mommies need so when she has kids she has a reference.. But I think I want more than that out of this experience. So who knows what kind of blog this may turn out to be, but I wanna find out! For starters the basics of my life! I'm a new, first time mommy and she dominates my world. I love her very much! Married, Correctional Officer for a husband, still newlyweds <3 Small, southern town is where its at...apparently. I like to think I'm craft and fun! Haven't started working since the baby arrived, I have a whole whopping 2 weeks left of maternity leave Teen mom in the house! Although we are responsible adults and self sufficient, proving for our family on our own. Now. What I personally think is vital to have as a new mom is as follows •Boppy (or any nursing pillow) I actually have the WalMart brand "Cuddle-U" -These are so nice, even if you don't breastfeed! I like to sit her up in it so she's comfortable and we're trying to break the habit of her ALWAYS being held (first grandchild in my family, it makes night time a nightmare). My daughter also likes to nap in it, and it makes holding her really easy and hands free- even my husband likes to use it sometimes! •Pack 'n Play for the main part of your house that the baby will be other than the room with her/his crib. -We live in a 2 story townhouse apartment, so it's soo nice to have somewhere upstairs AND downstairs to lay the baby down without having to worry about anything. •A Swing -I recommend one that also vibrates. My little girl has a touch of colick and this has been a life saver on more occasion than one. She loves it, ours also plays music and she just can't get enough of it! •The Pandora App -Its free! And babies are often soothed by music, I know mine is. She particularly loves the Disney channel that plays the classic cartoon songs from movies like Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. •More wipes than you think you'll need -You'll need em. •Swaddling Blankets -My daughter does NOT like to be swaddled. However, the Carters Swaddling Blankets are perfect. Soft, not to thick or thin, a little stretchy...and great for swaddling of course or just to keep your baby warm. •Baby First Aid Kit -Specifically a thermometer, teething ring (just to be ready), those little bulbs to suck up boogers, gas drops, nipple butter, baby finger nail clippers and anything else you want to add. •A Changing Pad -One for the diaper bag and maybe one for home, or lots of baby friendly soft rags Specifically for breastfeeding mommies: •A Nipple Shield -My daughter's a horrible latch and even though we're now working on breaking her of the shield, it has kept my breasts happy. •Nipple Butter -It feels nice on you. Trust me. And it can be used as a chap stick, for you or baby (their lips totally get dry) •Bottles -Whether you intend to need them or not-buy a couple. We had to start supplementing with formula because of jaundice. Now its nice to get a break or just let daddy feed her sometimes, although it does affect your production. Plus you can always pump and bottle feed. This is subject to change, be added to or edited in any way..we'll see! :)
